All luncheon reservations must be made by the deadline specified above.  Reservations may be cancelled prior to this deadline.  You must make a reservation even if you mail your check.  No reservations made after the deadline are guaranteed.  Limited walk-in spaces are available for each luncheon on a first-come-first-served basis.

If you do not attend the luncheon after making a reservation and do not cancel prior to the deadline, you will be charged for the cost of the luncheon.  If you have made a reservation and cannot attend the luncheon, you may substitute someone in your place.  However, you (or your substitute) must advise Michele Harman (213-9295) or mharman@jurispros.com) of such substitution prior to or at the luncheon.

The Women's Forum Luncheon

October 17, 2001, 12 noon

Please come on October 17, to The Women's Forum Luncheon co-sponsored by Make Women Count and the Junior League of Richmond.  Gubernatorial candidates Mark Earley (Republican) and Mark Warner (Democrat) will make a joint appearance at this voter education event moderated by Lisa Taylor Powell.  Lunch will begin at 12 noon at the Richmond Marriott.  The cost of the luncheon is $30 per person or $500 for a reserved table of 10.  You may make reservations for the lunch online at www.makewomencount.org or by sending a check to Make Women Count, P. O. Box 677, Richmond, VA 23218-7450.  The deadline for reservations is October 10th.

ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

The Awards Committee seeks nominations for the Annual Women of Achievement Award which recognizes a woman who     exemplify legal professionalism. MRWBA was proud to present last year's award to Mary R. Spain. The deadline for nominations is Friday, November 2d at 5 p.m.  Please help the Awards Committee find and recognize that lawyer who is deserving of this tribute.

MEMBERSHIP NEWS

You Belong in the MRWBA

Although the "official" deadline has passed, it is not too late to send in your dues and renew your membership! (The deadline this year was July 31st so membership rolls would be updated before the September monthly meeting.)

Also, please tell the other women attorneys in your office about the benefits of membership in the MRWBA and encourage them to join. These benefits include: networking and support, career enhancement opportunities, CLE programs, judicial candidate development, public service opportunities, a mentor program and legislative monitoring.

For the first time, MRWBA is offering a reduced rate of $45 for previous MRWBA members who did not renew their memberships last year. Please spread the word that we want old members back! Non-profit organization dedicated to cancer patient advocacy is seeking a candidate w/a JD, MSW and/or other relevant educational or employment background to manage its client services program. Primary responsibilities: client intake, counseling, referral, case management, and recruiting, training and mentoring lay and attorney volunteers. Past experience should include program administration, counseling, and work with government entitlement programs, debt issues and/or insurance, and volunteers. The MRWBA's Public Service Committee has an ambitious and exciting schedule for the year. We are planning a curriculum project at the Flagler Home, dinners for the Ronald McDonald House, and a new version of our award-winning Domestic Relations Law brochure. To achieve these goals, though, we need your help. The Public Service Committee will kick off the year with an informational and planning meeting on Friday, September 28 at noon at Peking in Shockoe Slip. Please make plans to join us!  R.S.V.P. to Jamie Martin.
