    Tina's Wish EmpowHER Series

MRWBA is pleased to collaborate with Tina's Wish as a Community Partner for their EmpowHER Series! The monthly webisode series educates and empowers women in relation to their gynecologic health.

The next webisode will be Disparities When it Comes to Gynecologic Cancers & How We Can Close the Gap and it will air on Thursday, March 4th at 11:30am ET. The conversation, moderated by Valerie Smaldone and with panelists Carol Brown, MD of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Dineo Khabele, MD of Washington University School of Medicine, will focus on the often overlooked issue of inequalities in the incidence, prevalence and mortality of gynecologic cancers. To register, click here.

A recording of webisode #1, Gynecologic Cancers: Facts & Differences, is available on the Tina's Wish website.

Share Your Ideas for Program Topics

The programs committee is in the process of organizing the luncheons for the upcoming 2021-2022 year. If you have an idea for a program or a specific area of the law they would like to see a luncheon focus on, please feel free to email the program co-chairs at rimholt@flaor.comor If you would like to be a part of planning the upcoming luncheons please let us know if you would like to be on the committee. We look forward to another great program year and hope to see everyone in person in the fall.

If you have been involved in the Mentorship Program this year, please be sure to RSVP for the March 23rd (virtual) Mentorship event if you have not already done so. You can e-mail to confirm your registration.

During the event, we will also be awarding the Phoebe Hall Mentorship Award.

Our thanks to the sponsor of this event, Williams Mullen.

Register for the MRWBA Annual Legislative Update Webinar

Join MRWBA  for our Annual Legislative CLE Update on Wednesday, April 28th. The program will feature a panel of state legislators who will discuss bills from this year's General Assembly session and the legislative process. This annual program provides a great opportunity to hear the inside story from local legislators and to participate in a Q&A with them on the burning issues of the 2021 General Assembly session.

Don't Forget to Submit Your Nomination for the MRWBA Woman of Achievement Award!

As we announced last fall, due to the pandemic the Awards program that we normally hold in December has been shifted to the spring. It is currently being planned for May 26th. We are hopeful that we will be able to hold some sort of hybrid in-person/virtual event at an outdoor location. Because of this shift, the nomination deadline for the Award has been extended to March 31st.

As our members know all too well, women lawyers often feel ‘invisible’ to firm, corporate and government leaders when it comes to being recognized for the work they do. To help us address this issue on a local level, each year the MRWBA Woman of Achievement Award recognizes a member who “exemplifies legal professionalism.” Our list of past honorees reads like a virtual Who’s Who of the Metro Richmond women's legal community, and we still need your help to find the 2020 Woman of Achievement!

Click here for criteria and the nomination form.

All nominations are due no later than March 31st. Questions? E-mail Awards Chair Blaire Hawkins O’Brien.

We Appreciate our Sponsors’ Continuing Support During these Challenging Times

MRWBA’s events, even the virtual ones, are possible thanks to the generosity of our sponsors. These sponsorships provide an opportunity to promote your brand to a demographic of well-educated, professional women with an average salary of $101,126 per year. E-mail for details on available sponsorships.
