We Appreciate our Sponsors’ Continuing Support During these Challenging Times

MRWBA’s events, even the virtual ones, are possible thanks to the generosity of our sponsors. These sponsorships provide an opportunity to promote your brand to a demographic of well-educated, professional women with an average salary of $101,126 per year. Register for a sponsorship now, or e-mail with questions.

            President's Message

Like for many families and organizations, the past year and a half has been challenging for the MRWBA. Not only were we forced to cancel all in-person programming and switch to virtual events, but our revenue generated by sponsorships and programs severely declined.

Prior to the pandemic, our organization was in a very good financial position. In fact, we had enough money in savings that the advice following our annual audit was to spend more money! Unfortunately, none of us saw COVID-19 coming, so we followed that advice and spent the money on a very thorough and productive strategic planning process. And now, in 2021, we find ourselves in a slightly precarious financial position and we need to raise revenue to avoid going into the red.

We are calling on our membership to help bolster our bank account and ensure that we can continue to provide the quality educational, social, and networking events that we all expect from the MRWBA.

We will be introducing a few fundraising activities through the bar year.

This fall, we will be raffling a wine basket. The Board has put together a wonderful wine selection, filled with our favorite selections of red and white varieties. Tickets will be sold online and at all of our events between now and the December luncheon for $5 each (or 5 for $20).  The drawing will be held at the December luncheon on December 1 at Willow Oaks.

We are also accepting donations and appreciate a contribution in any amount. For each  donation of $25 or more, you will receive a lovely MRWBA logo mug (pictured at left)! Please note donations to the MRWBA are NOT tax deductible.

Thank you all for your continued involvement and support of the Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association.

            Board Vacancies

There are currently two opportunities to serve on the MRWBA Board for the 2021-2022 board year.  This is your chance to reconnect with the Women’s Bar and work with an amazing group of women to provide valuable programming to our membership.  Both positions are “Co-Chair” positions, so you will partner with a current board member on projects.  See the committee descriptions below.  No specific experience is required, but previous involvement on the committees is helpful.

To express interest, please complete and submit the application.  If you have questions, contact Mollie Barton (

The Legislative Committee Co-Chair position is for the remainder of this bar year, October 2021-May 2022.

The Programs Committee Co-Chair position is for January 2022-December 2023.

Monitors legislative issues that have been identified as being of interest to our members and reports on those issues during and following the General Assembly session. Organizes and implements all aspects of the annual Legislative Luncheon each spring, which hosts our State Senators and Delegates to speak about their sponsored bills and provide insider glimpses of what happened on the floor and in legislative committees during the most recent legislative session.

Select speakers and arrange for their participation in programs for monthly luncheons. Submit appropriate programs for CLE Credit. Assist with the organization of additional member activities and programs.
